At every wedding, I see all kinds of family dynamics. Close families, hugging families, more serious families, long distance families, etc. Every now and then, we are welcomed into a family dynamic on the wedding day that leaves a lasting impression. That is most definitely what we experienced during David and Caroline’s wedding day.
Caroline and David met at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY which is in the finger lake region of Upstate New York. Currently, Caroline is currently serving our country in the United State Navy and is stationed in California. David is on the complete opposite end of the country at medical school at Duke University. During the toasts part of the evening, the bride’s uncle mentioned how unlikely it was that these two would find each other. David came to this country when he was 8 years old and had to become a man at such a young age. He would help translate for his parents so they could navigate this country when everything was so new. Caroline moved to the Ithaca area about 17 years ago. And they both happen to attend Cornell at the same time.
Speaking of Cornell, what better place for these two to get married? They wed on July 8, 2023 at the Sage Chapel located on the Cornell campus. After the ceremony when we were taking portraits I was just stunned. The views were just unimaginable. As soon as I walked around the corner of the ceremony venue and saw the backdrop, I was shocked. I hate to say it but images don’t even do it justice. It’s impossible to fully capture how majestic the sweeping hills nestling into the lake were.
The views didn’t stop once we got to the reception. Bright Leaf Vineyard was about 30 minutes away from the ceremony and it was held high up on a hill so you could see everything New York had to offer in the summer. After dinner, one by one, family and friends from both Caroline and David’s side stepped up to the microphone to share just how pure their love is. There was of course, many funny stories and inside jokes shared. However, it was sentiment and admiration for these two beautiful souls that loomed large in everyone that had something to share.
Enjoy getting to see the highlights of this sweet couple’s day! David and Caroline, I hope you’re having the best time on your honeymoon!!!
